A pyridizinone derivative of the formula I STR1 wherein R is F, Cl, Br, I or R1 R2 N, R1 and R2 are each H, C1-4 -alkyl or benzyl, R3, R4 and R5 are each H or C1-4 -alkyl and wherein it is only possible for R to be benzylamino, R3 to be CH3 and R4 to H at the same time if R5 is alkyl, and salts thereof display positive inotropic properties and vasodilative properties and can be used, in particular, as intermediate products in the production of other pharmaceutical agents.

Compounds of the formula STR1 wherein R1 is hydrogen, trifluoromethyl, alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, mercapto, lower alkyl-mercapto, phenyl, fluoro-phenyl, tolyl, hydroxy-phenyl, methylmercapto-phenyl, methylsulfinyl-phenyl, methylsulfonyl-phenyl, dimethylamino-phenyl, or mono-, di- or tri-methoxy-substituted phenyl; A is hydrogen or, together with B, a double bond, B is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms or, together with A, a double bond; C is, together with R2, a double bond, or, together with R3, oxygen; R2 is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms or, together with C, a double bond; and R3 is chlorine, methylamino, morpholino, 4-methylpiperazino or, when R2 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, together with C, oxygen; And non-toxic, pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salts thereof; the compounds as well as the salts are useful as hypotensives, antithrombotics and cardiotonics.
