The complex formation that occurs in gelatin-immobilized copper(II) hexacyanoferrate(II) matrices upon their contact with aqueous alkaline solutions of 1-pentamethylene-, 1-(3-oxapentamethylene)-, 1-methyl-1-phenyl-, or 1,1-dibenzyl-3-benzoylthiourea is studied. The coordination of these ligands by Cu(II) is preceded by the decomposition of Cu2[Fe(CN)6] to copper(II) hydroxide Cu(OH)2 in an alkaline medium. In the Cu(II)-3-benzoylthiourea derivative systems, two types of complexes form: CuL(OH)H2O and CuL2 (L- is a monodeprotonated ligand).
