The reaction of (I) with phenoxides yields the title compound, II.This represents a new synthesis of compound II.Crystals of II were obtained from hexane/toluene.II crystallizes in the monoclinic P21/c space group with a 15.39(1), b 15.33(1), c 27.16(1) Angstroem, β 94.32(5) deg, Z = 4, Dx 1.39 g/cm3.The structure was solved at ambient temperature using Mo-Kα radiation with μ 4.1 cm-1, F(000) = 2767.70 and R = 0.0780, (Rw = 0.0718).There were 4991 unique observed reflections. The main feature of the structure is the presence of two orthometallated triphenylphosphite ligands and two conventional triphenylphosphite ligands leading to the presence of cis-aryl linkages about ruthenium. The mechanism of formation of II from I is discussed.
