The reaction of α,β-unsaturated acid chlorides with unsubstituted and N-substituted sodium (or ammonium) dithiocarbamates is a convenient method for the synthesis of 6- and 3-substituted propiorhodanines.It was discovered that there is a tautomeric equilibrium between the S- and N-acryl isomers formed during the reaction.
