A reaction of long-chain methyl epoxyalkanoates with chlorotrimethylsilane in presence of triethylamine followed by Jones' oxidation has resulted in the formation of respective chlorooxo derivatives. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions and in a short span of time. Thus, one pot synthesis of methyl chlorooxoalkanoates is assisted with high purity and good yield of the products. The pure products are characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and MS spectra.
