It is a colorless liquid at room temperature and is soluble in non-polar solvents. Aluminum, dimethyl(2-methyl-2-propanethiolato)- is primarily used as a catalyst in various chemical reactions, particularly in the polymerization of olefins and the production of Ziegler-Natta catalysts. Due to its reactivity with water and air, it must be handled with extreme caution and stored under an inert atmosphere.
