Latanoprost ethyl amide (Lat-NEt) is a modified analog of latanoprost, a prostaglandin, where the C-1 carboxyl group has been converted to an N-ethyl amide. This alteration has been shown to possess ocular hypotensive activity, making it a promising candidate for the development of alternative prostaglandin ocular hypotensive prodrugs. Despite initial claims that prostaglandin ethyl amides are not converted to free acids in vivo, studies have demonstrated that bovine and human corneal tissue can convert the N-ethyl amides of various prostaglandins, including Lat-NEt, to free acids at a rate of approximately 2.5 μg/g corneal tissue/hr. As a result, Lat-NEt is expected to exhibit the typical intraocular effects of latanoprost free acid, but with a slower hydrolysis pharmacokinetics due to its prostaglandin N-amide structure.

Uses

Used in Ophthalmology:
Latanoprost ethyl amide is used as an ocular hypotensive agent for the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Its conversion to the free acid form in the corneal tissue allows it to exhibit the intraocular effects typically associated with latanoprost, such as reducing intraocular pressure, while benefiting from the slower hydrolysis kinetics of the prostaglandin N-amides.
Used in Pharmaceutical Research and Development:
Latanoprost ethyl amide serves as a reactant or reagent in the preparation of nitrooxy prostamides, which are being investigated for their potential use in the treatment of glaucoma. This application highlights its utility in the development of novel therapeutic agents for ocular conditions.
Additionally, Latanoprost ethyl amide can be used as an analog or impurity of the drug Bimatoprost (B386800), which is another prostaglandin analog used in the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. This application underscores its relevance in the pharmaceutical industry for quality control, drug development, and ensuring the safety and efficacy of medications.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 607351-44-0 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 6,0,7,3,5 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 607351-44:
(8*6)+(7*0)+(6*7)+(5*3)+(4*5)+(3*1)+(2*4)+(1*4)=140
140 % 10 = 0
So 607351-44-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
