Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 61599-53-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,1,5,9 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 61599-53:
(7*6)+(6*1)+(5*5)+(4*9)+(3*9)+(2*5)+(1*3)=149
149 % 10 = 9
So 61599-53-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Effect of media polarity on the photoisomerisation of substituted stilbene, azobenzene and imine chromophores

King,Whale, Eric A.,Davis, Fred J.,Gilbert, Andrew,Mitchell, Geoffrey R.

, p. 625 - 630 (1997)

The influence of substituents and media polarity on the photoinduced E→Z geometrical isomerisation of the stilbene, azobenzene and N-benzylideneaniline chromophores has been compared and assessed. The efficiency of the process in all three systems is mark

Application of Phase-Transfer Catalysis to the Synthesis of Mono- and Bis-stilbenes and Styryls

Lokhande, S. B.,Rangnekar, D. W.

, p. 485 - 488 (2007/10/02)

A novel and convenient method has been developed for the synthesis of substituted stilbenes by the condensation of active methyl group in suitably substituted toluenes with aromatic aldehydes in aq. medium at room temperature using benzyltriethylammonium chloride as a phase-transfer catalyst. This method has also been applied for the preparation of heterocyclic styryls and extended to the synthesis of bis-stilbenes and bis-styryls using aromatic dialdehydes in place of monoaldehydes.A comparison of the results shows that the present method is superior to the conventional methods in many respects.
