Glucosaminic acid, also known as D-glucosamine, is a monosaccharide derived from chitin, a structural component found in the exoskeletons of crustaceans and the cell walls of fungi. It is an important precursor in the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans, which are essential for the formation and maintenance of cartilage, tendons, and other connective tissues in the body. Glucosaminic acid plays a crucial role in various biological processes, including cell signaling, immune response, and the regulation of inflammation. It is commonly used as a dietary supplement to support joint health and alleviate symptoms of osteoarthritis, as it helps in the production of proteoglycans, which are vital for maintaining the structural integrity of cartilage.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 6165-14-6 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 6,1,6 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 6165-14:
(6*6)+(5*1)+(4*6)+(3*5)+(2*1)+(1*4)=86
86 % 10 = 6
So 6165-14-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Oxidative behaviour of some aminosugars towards chromic acid in perchloric acid medium in the absence and presence of micellar environment

Gupta, Kalyan Kali Sen,Tribedi, Partha Sarathi,Gupta, Shipra Sen,Sen, Pratik Kumar

, p. 546 - 550 (2007/10/02)

The oxidative behaviour of some aminosugars towards chromium(VI) in perchloric acid medium has been investigated.Chromium(VI) reacts with glucosamine and galactosamine by a similar mechanistic path through the intermediate formation of 1:1 complex between the reactants whereas the kinetic evidence for such 1:1 complex formation between protonated mannosamine and the reactive oxidant is insignificant. The influence of added micelle on the rate has also been studied.
