Bicycloocta-2,4-diene, -oct-2-ene, -oct-3-ene, and -octane from Norpinene
Christl, Manfred,Herzog, Clemens,Nusser, Rainer
, p. 3059 - 3066 (2007/10/02)
A new route for the synthesis of bicycloocta-2,4-diene (1), -oct-3-ene (3), and -octane (4) is described as well as the first preparation of bicyclooct-2-ene (2).As common precursor 2,3-dibromobicyclooct-3-ene (7) has been utilized, obtained from norpinene (5) by addition of dibromocarbene and subsequent thermal rearrangement of the tricyclic product 6 formed.
A New Synthesis of Bicycloocta-2,4-diene and Its Cycloaddition Reactions with Dienophiles.
Yin, Tyze-Kuan,Lee, Jon Gun,Borden, Weston Thatcher
, p. 531 - 534 (2007/10/02)
Bicycloocta-2,4-diene (4) has been synthesized by a new, nine-step route, starting from 2--1,3-butadiene and acrolein.Diene (4) proved almost as unreactive toward Diels-Alder cycloadditions as the previously studied 7,7-dimethy
