Usage

Description

1-(Trimethylsiloxy)-5-methoxy-3-oxapentane is an organosilicon electrolyte with polyethylene glycol oligomers that enhances the thermal and electrochemical stability of lithium-ion batteries. It has a viscosity of 0.9 cP at 25°C, a conductivity of 1.2 x 10^–3 S cm–1 at 25°C (1.0 M LiTFSI), a boiling point of 190-191°C, and a glass transition temperature of -129°C. It is soluble in electrolytic lithium salt LiTFSI and less soluble in LiBOB. Silylated electrolytes show better electrochemical stability than their carbon and germanium analogues and compare well with other trimethylsilylated polyethylene oxide oligomers.

Uses

Used in Lithium-ion Batteries:
