The synthesis of unsubstituted and substituted bicyclic η5-cyclopentadienyl ligands and their Group IV metal complexes [M{η5-C5H3(1,2-CH2-) n}2Cl2], where n=4, 5, 6 and M=Ti, Zr, Hf, is reported. An example of an ansa-bridged zirconium analogue is also described.

The electrochemical Wacker type oxidation of terminal olefins by using palladium chloride or palladium acetate and tri(4-bromophenyl)amine as a recyclable mediator in either a divided cell or an undivided cell afforded the corresponding methyl ketones in good yields.

In combination with anodic oxidation, 1-alkenes are oxidized to methyl ketones efficiently by the catalyses of Pd(OAc)2 and benzoquinone.Cyclopentene and Cyclohexene are oxidized smoothly to the corresponding ketones in high yields.
