Usage

General Description

4-[(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-(4-propan-2-ylphenyl)methyl]-N,N-dimethyl-aniline, also known as procaine, is a local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic agent. It is a member of the amino-ester group of compounds and is derived from para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and diethylaminoethanol. Procaine works by inhibiting the influx of sodium ions through voltage-gated sodium channels in the neuronal cell membrane, leading to a decrease in the generation and conduction of nerve impulses.
