A novel spiropyran derivative, 3-(5-methoxy-6′-nitro-3H-spiro[benzo[d]thiazole-2,2′-chromen]-3-yl)propane-1-sulfonate (MO-SP) as a chemosensor for metal ions has been synthesized. The prepared MO-SP as a colorimetric and fluorescent sensor is sensitive to common trivalent metal ions (Al3+, Cr3+ and Fe3+). In addition, it can be used as a “naked eye” identification agent of Fe3+, Cr3+ and Al3+. When Fe3+, Cr3+ or Al3+ was added, the color changed from orange to yellow, meanwhile, the absorbance at the maximum absorption wavelength decreased obviously, but it did not change significantly when other metal ions were added. The MO-SP is proved to be sensitive, selective, good linear-relationship and low detection limit for recognition of Fe3+, Cr3+ and Al3+. Moreover, the MO-SP also could be employed as molecular logic function.

The invention relates to a spiropyrane colorimetric probe for identifying Cr, Fe and Al ions and a preparation method of the spiropyrane colorimetric probe. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: synthesizing 3-(2-methyl-5-methoxy benzothiazole) propane-1-sulfonate from 2-methyl-5-methoxy benzothiazole and 1, 3-propane sultone; and then synthesizing a 3'-(3-propyl sulfonic acid)-5'-methoxy-6-nitro spiro [benzothiazole-2,2'-benzopyran] compound by using the 3-(2-methyl-5-methoxy benzothiazole) propane-1-sulfonate and 5-nitro salicylaldehyde. According to the method, synthetic dye raw materials are easy to obtain, reaction conditions are mild, and a relatively pure product can be obtained through simple post-treatment; the prepared spiropyrane dye has excellent photochromic performance and chemical stability; the spiropyrane dye is simple and convenient to store, can be used as usual after one month, and has stable performance. and he spiropyrane dye provided by the invention has a relatively low detection limit, and can effectively identify chromium, iron and aluminum ions in an aqueous solution.
