6333-64-8 Usage
General Description
(5-methyl-4-nitroso-2-propan-2-yl-phenyl) N,N-bis(2-chloroethyl)carbamate, also known as carmustine, is a nitrosourea alkylating agent with antineoplastic activity. It is used in the treatment of various types of cancer, including brain tumors, multiple myeloma, and Hodgkin's disease. Carmustine works by inhibiting DNA synthesis and function, ultimately leading to the death of rapidly dividing cancer cells. However, due to its alkylating properties, it can also cause damage to healthy cells, resulting in certain side effects such as bone marrow suppression, nausea, vomiting, and hair loss. Carmustine is administered intravenously and is often used in combination with other chemotherapy drugs for maximum effectiveness in cancer treatment.
