Formic acid is a colorless, corrosive liquid with a strong, pungent odor. It is soluble in water and ethanol, and exhibits yellow color with green fluorescence. When treated with strong sulfuric acid, it turns yellow with green fluorescence, and upon dilution, it becomes a light brown color. The dye solution with strong sodium hydroxide solution results in bright yellow precipitation.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 6449-79-2 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 6,4,4 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 6449-79:
(6*6)+(5*4)+(4*4)+(3*9)+(2*7)+(1*9)=122
122 % 10 = 2
So 6449-79-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
