64502-92-7 Usage
General Description
(2-oxo-4-morpholino)butyltriphenylphosphonium, also known as MPP+, is a toxic and positively charged chemical compound. It is commonly used in scientific research as a specific inhibitor of the mitochondrial complex I in order to induce parkinsonism in laboratory animals and study the effects of the disease. MPP+ has been linked to an increased risk of developing Parkinson's disease in humans. In high concentrations, MPP+ can cause cell death by disrupting the electron transport chain in mitochondria, leading to a decrease in adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production and an increase in oxidative stress. Due to its toxic nature, MPP+ is typically handled with extreme caution and used only in controlled research settings.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 64502-92-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,4,5,0 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 64502-92:
(7*6)+(6*4)+(5*5)+(4*0)+(3*2)+(2*9)+(1*2)=117
117 % 10 = 7
So 64502-92-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
