Reaction of enantiopure epoxides (1) with NO occurred highly stereoselectively, affording syn-ring opened products, nitrates (2). The configuration of 2 was confirmed to be retained by determining the configuration of reduced products 1,2-glycols (4) from 2. A possible mechanism is suggested to trace out the syn-ring opening pathway.

Preferably, radiotracers of the invention can also be used to locate, diagnosis, identify, evaluate, detect and quantitate NET in such diseases, disorders, conditions or maladies as, without limitation, depression, anxiety, ADHD and drug dependency.

(Matrix presented) Enantiopure α-hydroxy ketones are important building blocks in organic synthesis. This paper describes the use of cyclic ruthenates for the first catalytic regioselective oxidation of vic-diols to α-ketols. The combination of RuCl3/Oxone/NaHCO3 was used in a two-step sequence of asymmetric dihydroxylation and regioselective monooxidation for the synthesis of a broad scope of enantiopure acyloins.
