, p. 1727 - 1732 (2013/01/15)
A practical synthesis of two N-glycoside indoles 1 and 2, identified as highly potent sodium-dependent glucose transporter (SGLT) inhibitors is described. Highlights of the synthetic process include a selective and quantitative Vilsmeier acylation and a h

Page/Page column 83-84, (2012/12/13)
The present invention is directed to a novel process for the preparation of compounds having inhibitory activity against sodium-dependent glucose transporter (SGLT) being present in the intestine or kidney.

The nucleophilic substitution of halogen in the series of (nitrohalogenophenyl)cyclopropanes by the action of sodium p-thiocresolate was studied. In N-methylpyrrolidone at 165 deg C (2,4-dibromophenyl)cyclopropane gives (2,4-di-p-tolylthiophenyl)cyclopropane.In hexamethylphosphorotriamide (2-chloro-6-nitrophenyl)cyclopropane and (2,4-dibromo-6-nitrophenyl)cyclopropane undergo substitution of the halogen atoms by the SC6H4CH3-p group at 20 deg C.
