Usage

General Description

(3beta)-cholest-5-en-3-yl carbonofluoridate, also known as cholesteryl fluorocarbonate, is a chemical compound derived from cholesterol. It is formed by the reaction of cholesterol with carbonofluoridic acid. The compound is a derivative of cholesterol and contains a carbonofluoride group attached to the 3rd carbon of the cholesteryl side chain. Cholesteryl fluorocarbonate has applications in the synthesis of novel lipids for drug delivery systems and as a probe for lipid organization in model and biological membranes. It is also used in the study of lipid metabolism and the development of lipid-based drug delivery systems.
