Two short syntheses of 2,5-diazido-3,6-dicyano- (1) and 2,6-diazido-3,5-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (3) as starting materials for the preparation of dicyanoketene in situ are reported; beyond that the compounds 14, 15, and 16a, b are synthesized.
