3-Aryloxymethyl-4,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazoles 1 are synthesized and condensed with benzil, phenyl pyruvic acid, ethyl acetoacetate and carbon disulphide to yield 6,7-diphenyl-3-aryloxymethyl-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-b]-1,2,4-triazines 3, 6-benzyl-3-aryloxymethyl-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-b]-1,2,4-triazin-7-ones 4, 3-aryloxymethyl-6-methyl-7,8-dihydro-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-b]-triazepin-8(9H)-one 5 and mercaptotriazolotriazoles 8. The rearrangement of triazolotriazapinones 5 to pyrazolo[3,2-c]-1,2,4-triazoles 6,7 has been carried out. The structures of newly synthesized compounds are characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, and mass spectral studies.
