Several N(1)-alkyl-2-(arylazo)imidazoles (L) have been synthesised and reacted with AgNO3. The ligands are new and N,N-chelators. The complexes arc isolated as perchlorate salt [AgL2](ClO4) (3-5). They are 1 : 1 electrolyte in MeOH and stable in solution (MeOH, CHCl3) for a long period.
