Uses
Used in Neurodegenerative Disease Therapy:
Cu(II)astm is used as a potential therapy for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and target specific areas of the brain makes it a promising candidate for treating this condition.
Used in Alzheimer's Disease Therapy:
Cu(II)astm is also being explored as a potential anti-Alzheimer's agent. Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the accumulation of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain. Cu(II)astm's ability to target and reduce the formation of these pathological structures may help slow down the progression of the disease and improve cognitive function in affected individuals.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Cu-ATSM is an orally bioavailable, blood-brain barrier permeable complex that specifically inhibits the action of peroxynitrite on Cu,Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1) and subsequent nitration of cellular proteins. CuII(ATSM) significantly delayed onset of disease (paralysis and prolonged lifespan) in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) mice model. Also, Cu-ATSM was reported to lower lipid peroxidation in a model of ischemicreperfusion injury. Cu-ATSM subsequently was shown to inhibit ferroptosis with a potency similar to Liproxstatin-1.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 68341-09-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,8,3,4 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 68341-09:
(7*6)+(6*8)+(5*3)+(4*4)+(3*1)+(2*0)+(1*9)=133
133 % 10 = 3
So 68341-09-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
