Description

Cornmint oil is one of the most popular organic essential oil in the world, which is produced by the process of distillation from the organic mentha arvensis plant. The invigoratingly fresh scent of Cornmint oil is similar to Peppermint. Meanwhile, they share many of the same therapeutic applications. It is commonly used to free the skin of acne and help the immune system fight against colds because of its antimicrobial function. Besides, it has a significant reviving effect on the nervous system, which removes negativity, helps people become clear-headed and refreshes spirits. It may be beneficial for those who are unable to concentrate or people with mental fatigue and memory lapses. Moreover, it has been proved to be used as a anesthetic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, stimulant or digestive. Although Cornmint oil is used therapeutically in the same way as Peppermint, Cornmint oil is milder and therefore sometimes preferred for the use with children.

Chemical Properties

Different sources of media describe the Chemical Properties of 68917-18-0 differently. You can refer to the following data:
1. Cornmint oil, Japanese mint oil is produced by steamdistillation of the flowering herb Mentha arvensis var. piperascens Malinv. The crude oil contains up to 80% (?)-menthol, which can be isolated by crystallization at low temperature. The residual dementholized oil is a colorless to yellow liquid with a characteristic minty odor. Dementholized oil (“DMO”) still contains about 33–45% (?)-menthol; (?)-menthone and (+)-isomenthone (25–40% together) are other major components.
2. The oil is steam distilled from the herb of Mentha arvensis L. immediately prior to the inflorescence of the plant. It is known in the United States as mint oil or cornmint oil, while it is quite commonly called peppermint oil in other parts of the world. The latter term is definitely wrong and misleading. Only the plant Mentha piperita yields true peppermint oil.
