Tropan-2-yl-methanol, also known as 2-(methylamino)-2-phenylethanol, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C9H13NO. It is a chiral molecule, meaning it has two enantiomers, which are mirror images of each other. tropan-2-yl-methanol is a key intermediate in the synthesis of various pharmaceuticals, particularly those belonging to the tropane alkaloid family, such as atropine, scopolamine, and cocaine. Tropan-2-yl-methanol is derived from the tropane ring system and is used as a building block in the production of these alkaloids, which have significant applications in medicine, particularly in the fields of anesthesia and ophthalmology. Its ability to be synthesized from readily available starting materials and its role in the production of important drugs make it a valuable chemical in the pharmaceutical industry.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 68969-37-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,8,9,6 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 68969-37:
(7*6)+(6*8)+(5*9)+(4*6)+(3*9)+(2*3)+(1*7)=199
199 % 10 = 9
So 68969-37-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Hydroformylation of Nitrogen-Containing Cyclic Olefins via "in-situ" Rhodium-Phosphine Catalysts

Prokai-Tatrai, K.,Toeroes, S.,Heil, B.

, p. 231 - 236 (2007/10/02)

Hydroformylation of nitrogen-containing cyclic olefins (N-substituted nortropidines, N-methyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (THP)) with rhodium-PR3 catalysts prepared "in-situ" is reported. The nortropidines reacted rapidly when either trialkyl- or triaryl-type phosphines were used, and the regioselectivities were not significantly influenced by the nature of the phosphine. With the less basic THP the rates and selectivities were generally lower, and were influenced by the phosphine ligand and by the presence of added bases such as Et3N.
