Bis(iminophosphorano)methane derivatives as precursors of unusual ruthenium carbene complexes: A synthetic and DFT study

The synthesis of the novel bis(iminophosphorano)methane derivatives CH 2[P{=NP(=O)(OR)2}Ph2]2 (R = Ph, Et) and CH2[P{=NP(=O)(OPh)2}Ph2][P{=NP(=O)(OEt) 2}Ph2] was reported. The deprotonation reactions of these ligands were also studied. The synthesis of unprecedented ruthenium(II) carbene complexes was discussed. A theoretical study devoted to rationalizing the electronic nature of the carbene moiety in the synthesized ruthenium (II) complex was also described.
