Used in Textile Industry:
Disodium 3-[[ethyl[4-[[4-[(3-sulphonatophenyl)azo]-1-naphthyl]azo]phenyl]amino]methyl]benzenesulphonate is used as a dye for wool, polyamide, and silk. It provides good light fastness, soaping fastness, perspiration fastness, and fastness to oxygen bleaching and seawater. However, it may cause some fading and staining.
Used in Leather Industry:
Disodium 3-[[ethyl[4-[[4-[(3-sulphonatophenyl)azo]-1-naphthyl]azo]phenyl]amino]methyl]benzenesulphonate is also used for leather coloring. It provides good light fastness and fastness to oxygen bleaching, but may cause some fading and staining.
Preparation
3-Aminobenzenesulfonic acid diazo, and Naphthalen-1-amine coupling, product to diazo, and 3-(Ethyl(phenyl)amino)methyl)benzenesulfonic acid?coupling.
