Potassium hexadecyl sulphate, also known as potassium cetyl sulfate or potassium palmityl sulfate, is a synthetic anionic surfactant derived from the reaction of hexadecyl alcohol (cetyl alcohol) with sulfuric acid, followed by neutralization with potassium hydroxide. It is a white, waxy solid with a mild, non-irritating nature and is widely used in the formulation of personal care products, such as shampoos, soaps, and detergents, due to its excellent foaming, emulsifying, and cleansing properties. Additionally, it is employed in various industrial applications, including textile processing, ore flotation, and as a component in fire-fighting foams.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 7065-13-6 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 7,0,6 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 7065-13:
(6*7)+(5*0)+(4*6)+(3*5)+(2*1)+(1*3)=86
86 % 10 = 6
So 7065-13-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Infrared and Raman spectra of alkali palmityl sulfates

Kartha, V. B.,Leitch, L. C.,Mantsch, H. H.

, p. 128 - 132 (2007/10/02)

Lithium, sodium, potassium, cesium, and ammonium palmityl sulfates were prepared by sulfination of n-hexadecanol, followed by treatment with the corresponding alkali carbonates; selectively deuterated palmityl sulfates were also synthesized to aid the assignment of certain vibrational modes. The infrared and Raman spectra of the polycrystalline solids were interpreted and discussed in terms of acyl chain and head group vibrations.Spectral evidence is presented for the existence of diferent solid polymorphic forms.
