Studies have been carried out on kinetics of the synthesis of octylthiomethylpyridinium chloride from chloromethyl-n-octyl thioether and pyridine, 3-methylpyridine, 3,5-dimethylpyridine in N,N-dimethylformamide and in acetone.The reaction was found to be of first order with respect to thioether and zero order with respect to amine.Arrhenius' parameters have been determined.
