1,3-Oxazolium-5-olates acylated at C-4 react with tetrachloro-o-benzoquinone (9) to give 2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin-2-ones 10 which can formally be derived from the valence tautomeric ketenes 2.There is evidence for the assumption that ketenes are not involved in these reactions as intermediates.Furthermore, the products 15 a, b which probably results from cycloadducts formed primarily, have been isolated.Oxazolopyridinium-2-olates 8 acylated at C-3 react with 9 to give 1:2 adducts 20.
