Synthesis of certain mescaline derivatives for pharmacological study

The condensation of 3,4,5-trimethyoxyphenethyl chloride with certain amines is described. Reacting the aralkyl chloride with the three isomeric aminopyridines, 4-aminophenazone, pyrrolidine, piperidine, morpholine and N-methylpiperazine yielded the corrsponding trimethoxyphenethyl derivatives. Attempts to condense the halo compound with diethyl glutamate were unsuccessful.
