The pyrolysis of the sodium salts of 1,1-diacylcyclopropane bistosylhydrazones was studied.The key stage of the reaction is rearrangement of cyclopropylcarbene to cyclobutene derivatives.The second carbene center isomerizes to a vinyl fragment or is inserted at the OH bond of the methanol.The products from thermal isomerization of the substituted vinylcyclobutenes under alkaline conditions were also detected.
