It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone, and dimethylformamide. 1,4-Phthalazinedione, 6-(dimethylamino)- is derived from phthalimide, a heterocyclic organic compound, by the addition of a dimethylamino group at the 6-position.
