Triphenylverdazylium iodide is a complex organic compound with the chemical formula C21H18N3+I-. It is a derivative of the verdazylium cation, which is a heterocyclic aromatic system containing a nitrogen atom and a carbonyl group. The triphenyl substituent in triphenylverdazylium iodide consists of three phenyl rings attached to the nitrogen atom, which significantly influences its chemical and physical properties. Triphenylverdazylium iodide is known for its strong electron-accepting ability and is often used in organic synthesis, particularly in the formation of charge-transfer complexes. It is also of interest in the study of electron-deficient aromatic systems and has potential applications in materials science and electronics.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 72024-82-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,2,0,2 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 72024-82:
(7*7)+(6*2)+(5*0)+(4*2)+(3*4)+(2*8)+(1*2)=99
99 % 10 = 9
So 72024-82-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

KINETICS AND MECHANISM OF MONOMOLECULAR HETEROLYSIS OF FRAMEWORK COMPOUNDS. IV. IONIZATION OF 1-ADAMANTYL IODIDE IN PROPYLENE CARBONATE

Ponomareva, E. A.,Tarasenko, P. V.,Yurchenko, A. G.,Dvorko, G. P.

, p. 702 - 709 (2007/10/02)

The heterolysis of 1-iodoadamantane in propylene carbonate was studied preparatively and kinetically; v = k , k25 = 2.50.10-8 sec-1, ΔH = 90.9 kJ/mole, ΔS = -85.5 J/mole°Additions of water, LiClO4, and Et4N+ClO4- increase and additions of Et4N+I-, LiBr, Et4N+Br-, Bu4N+Br-, Et4N+Cl-, LiPic, and Et4N+Pic- reduce the reaction rate.It is suggested that a sterically separated ion pair is formed in the rate-controlling stage and is quickly transformed into a solvent-separated ion pair, which then gives the reation products. The negative salt effect is due to the action of the salt on the sterically separated ion pair.
