72989-12-9 Usage
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Research:
Methyl (2alpha,4alpha,5xi,18xi)-11-(3,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-12-methoxyibogamine-18-carboxylate is used as a research compound for exploring its potential psychoactive properties and interactions with serotonin receptors in the brain. Its unique structure and derivation from ibogaine make it a valuable candidate for studies in neuroscience and pharmacology.
Used in Drug Development:
In the pharmaceutical industry, this chemical compound is utilized as a precursor or building block in the development of new drugs targeting neurological disorders or conditions related to serotonin receptor interactions. Its potential applications in drug development are still under investigation, but the presence of methoxy groups and its origin from ibogaine indicate possible therapeutic uses.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 72989-12-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,2,9,8 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 72989-12:
(7*7)+(6*2)+(5*9)+(4*8)+(3*9)+(2*1)+(1*2)=169
169 % 10 = 9
So 72989-12-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Cytotoxicity of modified indole alkaloids
Kingston,Sami
, p. 1403 - 1405 (2007/10/09)
Indole alkaloids of the iboga series were structurally modified by incorporation of a 3,4-dimethoxybenzyl or -benzoyl unit so that they contained the N-O-O triangle required for antileukemic activity according to the triangulation hypothesis. The cytotoxicities of the modified alkaloids in the in vitro P-388 system were not significantly increased over the unmodified alkaloids, suggesting that the triangulation hypothesis does not apply in this series at least.
