73333-97-8 Usage
General Description
2,2',3,3',4,4',6,6'-Octanitro-biphenyl, also known as ONBP, is a powerful explosive compound used in the production of various explosives. It is a nitro compound with eight nitro groups attached to a biphenyl ring, making it highly reactive and explosive. ONBP is classified as a high explosive material due to its ability to release large amounts of energy in a short period of time. It is used in military applications, such as in the production of ammunition and bombs, as well as in industrial applications for mining and demolition. Due to its high reactivity and explosive potential, ONBP is a regulated and controlled substance, with strict regulations governing its production, storage, and use to prevent accidents and misuse.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 73333-97-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,3,3,3 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 73333-97:
(7*7)+(6*3)+(5*3)+(4*3)+(3*3)+(2*9)+(1*7)=128
128 % 10 = 8
So 73333-97-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis of Polynitro Compounds. Peroxydisulfuric Acid Oxidation of Polynitroarylamines to Polynitro Aromatics.
Nielsen, Arnold T.,Atkins, Ronald L.,Norris, William P.,Coon, Clifford L.,Sitzmann, Michael E.
, p. 2341 - 2347 (2007/10/02)
Peroxydisulfuric acid in sulfuric acid solution, prepared by reaction of hydrogen peroxide with excess oleum or 100percent H2SO4, oxidizes primary polynitroarylamines and their N-acetamido derivatives to polynitro aromatics in good to excellent yields. The new procedure is illustrated by the synthesis of several new polynitro compounds, not preparable by known synthetic methods.Peroxytrifluoromethanesulfonic acid is comparably efficient for such oxidations. The scope and limitations of the new reaction have been examined and compared to other methods of synthesis of polynitro compounds.
