Methyl acetamidocinnamate (L) and methyl acetamidoacrylate (L') react with enneacarbonyl diiron affording Fe(CO)3L and Fe(CO)3L'.The X-ray study of the complex Fe(CO)3L shows that the iron atom is located in a trigonal bipyramidal environment.The ligand L is ?-coordinated to the iron through its olefinic bond as well as η-bonded by an oxygen lone pair of the acetamido group.The study of the reactivity of these complexes reveals the high chelating strength of the acetamidoester ligands.
