73575-53-8 Usage
Uses
Used in Electrical Industry:
2,3'',4,5-Tetrachlorobiphenyl was used as a dielectric fluid in the electrical industry due to its high thermal stability and chemical inertness, which provided excellent insulation and heat transfer properties for transformers and capacitors.
Used in Hydraulic Fluids:
In the hydraulic fluids industry, 2,3'',4,5-tetrachlorobiphenyl served as a high-performance fluid, offering resistance to thermal degradation and chemical reactions, thus ensuring the efficient operation of hydraulic systems in various mechanical equipment.
Environmental and Health Concerns:
Despite its industrial applications, the production and use of 2,3'',4,5-tetrachlorobiphenyl have been banned or heavily restricted in many countries due to its long-term persistence and bioaccumulation in the environment. It poses a threat to both human health and the ecosystem, as it has been linked to detrimental impacts such as developmental and neurological disorders, as well as reproductive and immune system problems. Efforts are being made to remediate contaminated sites and reduce the exposure to this hazardous substance.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 73575-53-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,3,5,7 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 73575-53:
(7*7)+(6*3)+(5*5)+(4*7)+(3*5)+(2*5)+(1*3)=148
148 % 10 = 8
So 73575-53-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Physical, spectral and chromatographic properties of all 209 individual PCB congeners
Bolgar,et al.
, p. 2687 - 2705 (2007/10/03)
Through the use of two capillary GC columns: 40% octadecyl/ 15% phenyl methyl siloxane and 50% phenyl methyl siloxane, it was possible to separate 201 PCB congeners with only four unresolved pairs. The data compiled in this study for all 209 congeners will aid in the identification of selected individual components of these environmental pollutants. The use of this data also presents the opportunity for the improved quantification of the commercial PCB formulations. -from Authors
