The irradiation of the tricycloundecenones 6a-c, even in cyclohexene as solvent, results only in a quantitative isomerization to 7a-c, whereas irradiation of the tricycloundecenones 11 and 18 in cyclohexene gives primarily cycloadducts and products of "frustrated" cycloaddition.
