It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature and is soluble in most organic solvents. Ethanediamide,N1,N2-dioctyl- is primarily used as a plasticizer, a substance added to plastics to increase their flexibility, workability, or distensibility. It is commonly employed in the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and other polymers to enhance their properties. N,N'-dioctyl ethanediamine is also utilized as a stabilizer in various chemical reactions and as a component in the formulation of lubricants and emulsifiers. Due to its amphiphilic nature, it can form micelles in aqueous solutions, which makes it useful in applications such as drug delivery and surfactant systems.
