Sultam of swing: Both enantiomers of 1,2-thiazetidin-3-one oxides were obtained in very good yields with excellent enantioselectivities when using N-heterocyclic carbene catalysts (see scheme; M.S.=molecular sieves, TBS=tert-butyldimethylsilyl).
