Thermal cyclisation of the enamine (1), derived from 3-amino-2-methoxycarbonylthiophen and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate, led to 2,7-bis-methoxycarbonylthienopyridin-4(1H)-one (2).The related adducts (10a and 10b) gave the thienopyridin-4(1H)-ones (11a and 11b).Some reactions of the new thienopyridine derivatives have been investigated.
