The title compounds have been synthesized by the double Wittig reaction of bis sulfide dibromide with o-ethynylbenzaldehyde and/or o-ethynylcinnamaldehyde, followed by the oxidative coupling.The 1H-NMR spectra of these compounds gave no evidence for a ring current.
