7542-09-8 Usage
Chemical Properties
Different sources of media describe the Chemical Properties of 7542-09-8 differently. You can refer to the following data:
1. Red crystals.
Insoluble in water and ammonia; soluble in acids.
The cobalt carbonate of commerce is usually the
basic salt (see following entry).
2. This occurs naturally as sphaerocobaltite. It can be precipitated
as the violet-red hexahydrate CoCO3. 6H2O from aqueous solutions of cobalt(II) salts and
an alkali metal bicarbonate if the reaction is carried out under an atmosphere of carbon
dioxide. In the absence of carbon dioxide basic salts are precipitated in these reactions.
The hydrate is dehydrated to the CoCO3 at 140° and at 350° in vacuo CoO is formed.
Uses
Ceramics, trace element added to soils and animal feed, temperature indicator, catalyst, pigments.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 7542-09-8 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 7,5,4 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 7542-09:
(6*7)+(5*5)+(4*4)+(3*2)+(2*0)+(1*9)=98
98 % 10 = 8
So 7542-09-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
