Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 7559-55-9 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 7,5,5 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 7559-55:
(6*7)+(5*5)+(4*5)+(3*9)+(2*5)+(1*5)=129
129 % 10 = 9
So 7559-55-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Reaction of Benzyl Sulphoxides with Lithium and n-Butyllithium: A New Synthesis of Stilbenes

Rajanikanth, B.,Ravindranath, B.

, p. 824 - 826 (2007/10/02)

The reaction of benzyl sulphoxides with lithium has been shown to proceed via the steps: (i) α-lithiation; (ii) dimerisation; (iii) deoxygenation; and (iv) decomposition yielding stilbenes and thiosulphinates. The reaction with n-BuLi proceeds intramolecularly leading to stilbenes exclusively. The latter reaction provides an efficient method for the synthesis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical stilbenes.

Deoxygenation and Desulphuration Reactions of Lithium: Part V - Reaction of Sulphoxides with Lithium

Rajanikanth, B.,Ravindranath, B.

, p. 296 - 297 (2007/10/02)

Dialkyl and aralkyl sulphoxides are reduced to the corresponding sulphides in good yields by lithium in dimethoxyethane; however, the reaction of benzyl sulphoxides with lithium is more complex.
