Sulfadiazine is primarily used to treat various bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, and skin infections, by inhibiting bacterial growth and reproduction. It works by interfering with the synthesis of folic acid, an essential component for bacterial growth. The drug is administered orally or intravenously and is widely used in both human and veterinary medicine.
