Tris-(4-nonyl-phenyl)-phosphane, also known as TPP or triphenylphosphine, is an organophosphorus compound with the chemical formula (C9H19C6H4)3P. It is a colorless, crystalline solid that is soluble in organic solvents and has a molecular weight of 626.8 g/mol. TPP is widely used as a ligand in homogeneous catalysis, particularly in the hydroformylation process, where it forms a complex with transition metals to facilitate the conversion of alkenes to aldehydes. Additionally, it serves as a reagent in various organic synthesis reactions, such as the Wittig reaction for the formation of alkenes from aldehydes or ketones. Due to its stability and ability to form strong complexes with metals, TPP is a valuable compound in the field of organometallic chemistry and industrial catalysis.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 76287-48-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,6,2,8 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 76287-48:
(7*7)+(6*6)+(5*2)+(4*8)+(3*7)+(2*4)+(1*8)=164
164 % 10 = 4
So 76287-48-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Preparation and Properties of Tertiary p-Alkylarylphosphines containing Straight-chain Alkyl Groups

Franks, Stephen,Hartley, Frank R.

, p. 2233 - 2237 (2007/10/02)

A series of tris(p-alkylaryl)phosphines with straight-chain alkyl groups, P(p-C6H4-CnH2n+1)3 where n=2-9, have been prepared by reaction of phosphorus trichloride with the Grignard reagent derived from the corresponding p-bromoalkylbenzene.When n=2 and 3 the phosphines are crystalline solids, but for n>3 they are viscous oils up to n=9, which is a waxy solid. The phosphines have been characterised by microanalysis, and i.r., 1H and 31P n.m.r., and mass spectrometry. The p-substituted-arylphosphines are more sensitive than triphenylphosphine to air; aerial oxidation converts them exclusively into the corresponding phosphine oxides, in contrast to trialkylphosphines which are oxidised to a complex mixture of products. The complexing ability of the new phosphines (PAr3) is demonstrated by their ready displacement of 1,5-cyclo-octadiene (cod) from (M=Pd and Pt) to yield trans- and cis-, respectively.
