Synthesis of some of partially methylated galactoses from 1,6- anhydrogalactose

Starting from 1,6-anhydro-β-D-galactopyranose 1, 2.3-di-O-methyl-D- galactose 5, 2-O-methyl-D-galactose 10, 3-O-methyl-D-galactose 11 and 3,4- di-O-methyl-D-galactose 12 have been synthesized. All of them have been characterised as their alditol acetates.
