The reactions of cycloalkeno-1,2,3-selenadiazoles 1 and -thiadiazoles 2 with pentacarbonyl-(6B)-metal(THF) complexes afford stable compounds M(CO)5(selenadiazole) (3 - 5) and M(CO)5(thiadiazole) (6) with the heteroaromatic ligand coordinating via its nitrogen atom in the 2-position.Reactions of cyclohexa-1,2,3-selenadiazole 1b with Mo(CO)4(norbornadiene) and with Mo(CO)3(CH3CN)3 produce a Mo(CO)4(selenadiazole)2 complex with the two terminal selenadiazole ligands in the cis-position, and a complex 2(selenadiazole)3 with three bridging ligands, respectively. The reaction of Fe2(CO)9 with W(CO)5(selenadiazole), as compared with the free ligand, leads to a small variation of formed products which might be explained with the intermediate formation of a labile dinitrogen-pentacarbonyltungsten complex.

From the reactions of (THF)M(CO)5 (M = Cr, W) with 4-phenyl-1,2,3-thiadiazol, 4-methyl-5-carboxylic acid-1,2,3-thiadiazol, 4-methyl-5-carboxylic acid ethyl ester-1,2,3-thiadiazol and 4-methyl-1,2,3-selenadiazol, pentacarbonyl-complexes are obtained as air stable compounds.IR spectra of products of similar reactions with M = Mo provide some evidence of the formation of analogous complexes. The thiadiazol complexes are also accessible directly, by photochemical displacement of carbonmonoxid in THF from the parent carbonyl. The X-ray structures of pentacarbonyl-(4-phenyl-1,2,3-thiadiazol)-tungsten and pentacarbonyl-(4-methyl-1,2,3-selenadiazol)-chromium show the coordination of the ligand to the pentacarbonyl-metal-fragment via the nitrogen in position 2. - Keywords: 1,2,3-Thiadiazoles, 1,2,3-Selenadiazoles, Pentacarbonyl Complexes
